Canada’s top 10 most searched vehicles of 2016
Canada’s most searched vehicles of 2016 reveal that while many of this year’s car shoppers were economy-minded consumers, others had performance and luxury in mind.
Searches for performance picks, like the Porsche 911, Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette made the autoTRADER.ca list of the top 10 most searched vehicles, which is perhaps a sign that Canada's consumer confidence is on the rise, the site suggests.
The following is autoTRADER.ca’s list of top 10 most searched vehicles:
1) Ford F-150
2) Ford Mustang
3) BMW 3-Series
4) Honda Civic
5) Chevrolet Corvette
6) Jeep Wrangler
7) Porsche 911
8) Honda CRV
9) Toyota RAV4
10) Mazda 3
"This year's most searched absolutely backs up national sales data we're seeing in terms of positioning the Ford F-150 as the No. 1 selling vehicle in the country," said, managing editor at autoTRADER.ca, Michael Bettencourt. "However, we also see an aspect of aspirational search in the form of luxury, performance and niche vehicles that typically sell in much lower volume."
The list is formed using search data collected and analyzed by the site.
autoTRADER.ca's search findings corroborate with sales data obtained from Desrosiers Automotive Consultants which also found the F-150 and Civic the first and second highest selling models in Canada respectively.
For the second year in a row, the F-150 is the most searched vehicle of the year. In 2015, it also beat out the Civic for the top spot.
