LONDON — Groupon gained traction in the U.S. by offering discounts at places such as restaurants and salons. Now a website in the U.K. is trying to bring the same process to buying a new vehicle.

Today, officials from www.FinanceAcar.co.uk launched www.CarRush.co.uk, a site aimed at providing exclusive weekly deals with discounts of up to 40 percent.

The new website wants to encourage more consumers to buy new vehicles by saving them thousands of pounds through low monthly repayments.

Officials explained CarRush.co.uk aggregates the best of the U.K.'s new-vehicle deals and offers a limited number to its members each week for a short time.

Consumers can purchase a refundable "CarRush Coupon" (GBP99 to GBP199) to secure one of the site's "Unbeatable Deals" with those discounts of up to 40 percent equating to much lower monthly payments.

If the financing is approved, the site indicated the vehicle is delivered to the customer's door by a franchised dealer, complete with the full manufacturer's warranty.

CarRush said all stock is guaranteed genuine and is offered by franchised dealers. Customers are not charged for the CarRush Coupon until they have spoken with the CarRush.co.uk customer services team, have their order and stock confirmed and have stated that they want to proceed.

If vehicle buyers are looking for vehicles that aren't on offer on CarRush.co.uk that week, they can sign up as a member and specifically request a deal on the new model they want.

Using "reverse group buying," officials noted CarRush.co.uk can source the vehicles in bulk at large discounts from its main dealer and manufacturer partners and offer them exclusively to members.

Members also can receive weekly alerts for new deals, GBP50 per referral and can be entered in to compelling prize draws for products such as televisions and home entertainment systems.

The site mentioned independent data from Redshift Research that revealed consumers' appetite for new-vehicle deals. Redshift found that a discount of 10 percent off the list price almost doubles the number of consumers who would buy a new vehicle in the next three months.

Redshift also determined the amount of people looking to buy a new vehicle quadruples if the discount off the list price is 30 percent.

Moreover, officials pointed out that Redshift discovered a third of consumers would buy a new vehicle online if the deal had a "very good discount" and if it was supplied and delivered by a main dealer with the manufacturer's warranty.

Officials went on to emphasize CarRush.co.uk is backed by FinanceAcar.co.uk, one of the U.K.'s leading auto finance comparison websites.

"The last 12 months has seen a growth of 42 percent in the amount of new car finance provided to consumers, CarRush.co.uk director and co-founder Mark Peatey stated.
