PHILADELPHIA — Along with a new alliance to serve military
personnel, VINtek, a provider of automotive collateral management, electronic
lien and title services and direct auto finance processing, recently was
approved to offer its ELT services in Wisconsin to assist lenders with the
transition to electronic titles in the state.
Officials recapped that as a result of Wisconsin Act 32
passed last year, any automotive title with a lien will be sent to the
lienholder, not the borrower, as was previously the practice. This change went
into effect on July 30.
VINtek indicated the first phase of the implementation
supports electronic delivery of titles with liens for lenders who sign up with
an authorized service provider. The company said lienholders who sign up for
ELT can avoid receiving paper titles and instead will receive a digital record
with the lien and title information.
Officials continued that phase two, which is scheduled for
implementation by the end of the year, will support lien releases and title
print and mail to functionality.
VINtek pointed out that Wisconsin is the 17th state to adopt
an ELT program. Nationwide, nearly two-thirds of titles issued with liens are in
states that can issue electronic liens.
ELT replaces paper titles with an electronic exchange of
data between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and VINtek,
acting as an intermediary on behalf of a lienholder.
VINtek president Larry Highbloom believes the program
reduces operating costs through the elimination of paper and automation of a
manual process and eliminates exposure to a growing area of fraud that involves
falsified lien release letters.
"We are pleased to see an increase in states' interest in
the benefits of ELT for their own budgets and lenders' operations," Highbloom
said.
"Wisconsin is the latest state to initiate this program and
VINtek is helping automotive lenders in the state make the move to more
efficient and cost effective lien and title processing," he went on to say.
"The financial industry continues to focus on removing paper from operations
and auto financing is no exception."
USAA Selects VINtek for Automotive Collateral Management
Services
In other company news, VINtek recently announced that United
Services Automobile Association (USAA) has moved the management of its
automotive collateral portfolio to the company.
USAA, with more than $104 billion in assets and nine million
members, provides financial services to members of the military, veterans and
their families. The organization transitioned its portfolio of automotive
collateral of more than one million consumer accounts to VINtek in order to
streamline its paper-based and paperless title management through the
VINtekTIME platform and provide superior service to its members.
"We selected VINtek as our new title management provider,"
said Timothy Booker, vice president of fulfillment for USAA.
"Due to the worldwide nature of our business and the unique
challenges our members face each day, it is vital that our collateral
management provider deliver high quality service and also understand the
nuances of serving members of the military," Booker continued.
Highbloom added, "VINtek's full range of collateral
management solutions for paperless and paper-based titles is ideal for USAA's
business.
"We look forward to providing USAA and its members a robust
worldwide customer service platform for automotive collateral management and we
are truly honored to have the opportunity to serve those who serve or have
served our county," he concluded.
