CENTREVILLE, Va. and ATLANTA — It's eight years and counting for one automotive partnership, which benefits some 20,000 dealers nationwide in advertising their inventories.

AutoTrader.com and Carfax this week announced the renewal of their eight-year partnership that allows dealers to include Carfax Vehicle History Reports on their AutoTrader.com listings.

The agreement impacts more than 27,000 dealers which currently offer free Carfax Reports to customers, to help build consumer confidence in inventory listings.

"We are excited to announce the continuation of our partnership with Carfax," said Alan Smith, chief operating officer at AutoTrader.com.  "With this extended partnership, we are providing choice for the thousands of dealers who want to offer Carfax Vehicle History Reports with vehicles they list on AutoTrader.

"We are very pleased to be setting the standard for dealer choice, and we look forward to continue working together with Carfax to make our partnership even more successful," he said.

Carfax Vehicle History Reports have been available since 2005 for vehicles listed for sale on AutoTrader.com, which the company said has more than 4 million new- and used-car listings and sees more than 17 million unique visitors each month.

Through this renewal agreement with Carfax, AutoTrader.com's customer base of nearly 20,000 dealerships can continue this aspect of merchandising their listings.

"Many of our dealer customers use AutoTrader.com to merchandise their vehicles to potential used-car buyers," said Bill Eager, vice president of Carfax. "Offering Carfax Reports, like pictures, videos, vehicle details and a price, is a key component in our dealer customers' efforts to advertise their vehicles."
