8 characteristics ARA wants in new executive director
The American Recovery Association is seeking a new executive director.
According to an industry message the organization sent last week, ARA highlighted eight characteristics it is looking for among potential candidates, including:
—A self-starter with the ability to work independently
—Proven ability to demonstrate good customer service skills
—Creative and strategic approach to revenue generation and flexibility to take on new and varied challenges with an eye for both near-term and long-range goals
—Experienced working in non-profit organizations, preferably membership organizations, or other comparable employers in an executive director or similar role
—Proven ability to be a public spokesperson and member advocate
—An entrepreneurial mindset, with enthusiasm for building and leading an organization
—Integrity, flexibility, a positive attitude, and enterprising work style
—Excellent written and verbal communications skills with great attention to detail
ARA will be filling the position previously held by Joel Kennedy, who succeeded Les McCook, the executive director of the organization for almost 16 years.
ARA is looking to hire a self-motivated executive director with proven leadership skills and organization with a member-driven mindset. The executive director is responsible for delivering exceptional and outstanding service and assistance to ARA members, potential members and the recovery and lending community and businesses,” ARA said. “The executive director is a highly visible representative of ARA’s mission, theme, and values. they are accountable for knowing and properly executing all of ARA’s policies and procedures. They are responsible for the coordination and supervision of the strategic, human resource, financial, member relations, marketing, events and membership duties.”
