Ford again leads the way in Vincentric’s Best CPO Value in Canada awards
Ford was the big winner as Vincentric announced the results of its seventh annual Best Certified Pre-Owned Value in Canada awards.
The Blue Oval claimed a total of seven awards — two at the brand level and five model awards –— to lead all makes for the second consecutive year. Ford continued its dominance among the largest vehicles, taking the Best CPO Value SUV & Van brand award for the second year in a row and the Best CPO Value Truck brand award for the fifth time.
Volvo was named Best CPO Value Luxury Brand, one of its five awards. Mazda won the brand award for passenger cars and Jaguar took the luxury SUV brand award.
At the model level, Ford’s wins included the Edge in the mid-size SUV segment, the Expedition Max in the large SUV segment, the F-150 Lightning for full-size half-ton pickups, the Maverick Hybrid among small/mid-size pickups and Fusion Hybrid in the mid-size car category. The win for the Expedition Max was its third in as many years, and the F-150 earned its fifth victory in the seven-year history of the awards.
Volvo’s S90 Plug-In Hybrid topped the luxury large sedan category for the second time, while the S60 Plug-In Hybrid, V90 and XC90 also won segment awards.
Mazda earned two segment awards, including the third consecutive sports car title for the MX-5 and the fourth victory for the CX-5 compact SUV. Jaguar’s brand victory was led by the E-Pace, which topped the luxury compact SUV category.
The Kia Rio claimed its third win among subcompact cars, while the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, Kona EV and BMW 3-Series Plug-In Hybrid each won for the second consecutive year.
Vincentric president David Wurster noted 14 of the 25 segment award recipients won for the first time — the third year in a row the majority of segments were topped by first-time winners.
“That trend goes to show Canadian shoppers who are in the market for a CPO vehicle have a wide variety of great-value models to choose from,” he said. “For shoppers who may be overwhelmed by the decision, the Vincentric Best CPO Value in Canada awards can provide guidance and empower them to shop with confidence.”
Vincentric said the award winners are determined through a statistical analysis of some 15,000 vehicle configurations to find which had lower than expected ownership costs for their market segment and price. The analysis used eight cost factors: depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost and repairs – and incorporated the CPO warranty offered by the manufacturer.
