CARY, N.C. -

Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. now has had two consecutive months of record-high sales of certified pre-owned vehicles.

Its dealers moved 1,366 CPO vehicles during July, said CPO and remarketing manager Charles Plewes via email, kicking off a strong start to the second half of the year.

“July was another great month for Hyundai’s H-Promise CPO program. For the second month in a row we achieved our best sales month ever in the history of the program, even surpassing June,” Plewes said via email. “More dealers than ever are embracing the value in the H-Promise program.”

Hyundai closed the first half by moving 1,246 certified vehicles in June, which was an all-time high.

It was a 26% year-over-year hike and it put the first-half total at 4,964 units.  The year-to-date tally for the first half was down 3% from 2019.

“2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. While Hyundai’s H-Promise CPO program started off strong with 41% and 66% increases in January and February respectively vs 2019, March sales were down 6% and April was down a whopping 74% vs last year,” Plewes said via email after June.

“Still, this was better than most of the competition. However, with dealers opening back up in May, along with some pent-up demand, Hyundai saw sales down only 21% vs. 2019,” Plewes said.

“By contrast, June was an outstanding month for Hyundai’s CPO program with dealers more fully open, sales surged to 1,246, our best month ever, beating a record from way back in 2013 by 6%. Sales so far in July have continued this strong momentum adding to the recovery,” he said last month.

And as it turns out, it was another record month.
