Automakers get quick start to CPO in 2020
A few automakers have shared their January certified pre-owned sales results with Auto Remarketing Canada, and it appears they are off to a quick start.
For example, Hyundai’s H-Promise certified pre-owned program had its best January ever, moving 852 units. That beat year-ago figures by 41%.
Toyota’s 2,459 certified sales to start the year were up from 2,440 CPO sales in January 2019. Lexus had 372 CPO sales for the month, up from 313 a year ago.
Nissan sold 1,023 certified vehicles in January, compared to 958 a year ago.
Infiniti moved 151 CPO vehicles, up from 116 last January.
These results follow a strong 2019 for the CPO market in Canada, with multiple OEMs reporting sales records. Below is a recap of 2019 CPO sales, as reported previously in Auto Remarketing Canada.
For example, Mercedes-Benz had its best-ever year for CPO sales, moving 14,223 units and beating prior-year figures by 2.8%. That record year included five record months (January, February, July, November and December).
Specifically, Subaru’s CPO sales for the year were at 4,078 units, a best-ever sum and up from 3,423 in 2018.
Nissan had 15,478 certified sales in 2019, compared to 9,873 in 2018. Infiniti posted 2,043 certified sales for the year, up from 1,156 sales in 2018.
At Hyundai, the company had the strongest sales year for the H-Promise CPO program since 2014, moving 10,855 units. That was up 33% year-over-year, according to the company.
Next up, Toyota had 34,702 CPO sales in 2019, compared to 35,719 in 2018. Meanwhile, Lexus sold 4,667 certified vehicles last year, compared to 5,134 in 2018.
