TORONTO -

ALG shared the winners of the J.D. Power 2022 Canada ALG Residual Value Awards on Thursday, and topping the list with the most segment awards was Toyota Canada, with 10, followed by GM Canada (five).

Specifically, Toyota won seven model-level awards (Camry, RAV4, Highlander, 4Runner, Tundra, Tacoma, Sienna) and Lexus had three (IS, GX, UX), ALG said.

For GM, Chevrolet won in three segment categories (Bolt EV, Corvette, Silverado 2500 HD) and GMC won in two (Yukon, Savana).

On a brand level, Toyota was tops for mass-market and Lexus was won the premium category, ALG said.

“There’s not much brand diversity in the winners for 2022, meaning that the few brands at the top have found their niche — especially Toyota with its continued dominance in the utility and pickup segments,” said Eric Lyman, vice president of ALG, in a news release.

“Noteworthy is Chevrolet’s success across a variety of key segments — EV, full-size heavy duty pickups and performance sportscar — that showcase the brand’s enviable product diversity.”

ALG evaluated 274 model lines, analyzing used-vehicle performance, brand outlook and product competitiveness.

There were 29 segments represented, and 16 brands were represented among the winners, it said.
