MARKHAM, Ontario -

Wholesale vehicle prices were up in Canada last week, but only slightly, according to the latest weekly report from Canadian Black Book.

Overall, prices climbed 0.08%, compared to a gain of 0.35% the prior week. The average for the same week during 2017-2019 was a dip of 0.19%, CBB said.

Car segments were ahead of the game, with prices up 0.26%. The prior week, car segment prices were up 0.34%. The 2017-2019 average was a decrease of 0.10%.

Next up, truck and SUV prices were up 0.10% for the week, according to CBB. That compares to a 0.36% hike the week before and a decrease of 0.28% for the 2017-2019 average.

On the retail side of the market, Canadian Black Book said of price trends: “Used vehicle average listing prices continued their upward trend this past week when looking at both the 14-day moving average (now at ~$26,700) and the 28-day moving average. Analysis is based on approximately 140,000 vehicles listed for sale on Canadian dealer lots.”

CBB said there was a modest decline in active listing volume. It pinpointed the 14-day moving average at a little more than 140,800,
