PHOENIX — Arizona Central Credit Union recently partnered with the Northern Arizona Council of Governments to offer a program meant to help low-income individuals purchase a vehicle.

Officials explained the basis for Wheels to Work is to assist individuals with limited income and minimal to no credit. The program is geared toward aiding with down payments and loan options.

Program organizers pointed out that individuals are eligible for Wheels to Work if their income is below a certain amount or a formula based on the number of people living within their household.

"Our goal is to help 85 people in the next four months improve their finances while they have reliable transportation," stated Lucinda Sinclair, case manager for Wheels to Work.

"Living and working in northern Arizona without a car is challenging because of the distance between rural areas, cities and towns where most jobs are located," Sinclair continued.

Officials also noted that Wheels to Work is relying on several partnerships for its success. Arizona Central executives commented about their enthusiasm for the program.

"Our vision is to help people achieve financial success, and having reliable transportation is a critical step in achieving that goal," insisted Kayleen Hagadorn, manager of the union's Show Low branch.
