WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — Recent data from Power Information Network discovered that cash transactions for General Motors models have jumped considerably, which may indicate that these dealers are having a tough time getting financing for their customers.

"GM's proportion of cash transactions, though, has jumped by almost 16 percentage points and now stands at an exceptionally high 43.5 percent, more than 10 points above Ford's position and almost 10 points above Chrysler," PIN officials reported.

"Further, while retail finance transactions' mix has risen industry-wide, including at both Chrysler and Ford, it had remained steady at GM until falling in the most recent week," they added.

"The data suggests GM retailers are having greater difficulty than their competitors in obtaining credit for their customers, depressing the company's finance mix and raising its cash proportion to extraordinary levels," executives highlighted.
