FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Daimler Financial Services Americas, which comprises Mercedes-Benz Financial and Daimler Truck Financial, recently announced it will be adding more jobs to its Southeast Michigan region, along with finding a unique way to celebrate the holidays.

According to officials, these initiatives are designed to reinforce the company's commitment to the Southeast Michigan region.

In addition to keeping the company headquarters in that area as a result of the DaimlerChrysler de-merger, the company said it has already created new jobs and will be relocating other employees from a Chicago location to Farmington Hills.

Daimler Financial also surprised the leadership of Forgotten Harvest by presenting a check for $100,000 to the food rescue agency's capital fund campaign.

The mission of Forgotten Harvest is to relieve hunger in the Detroit metropolitan community by rescuing surplus prepared and perishable food and donating it to emergency food providers, executives explained.

Also, hundreds of pounds of food collected by Daimler Financial employees during a food drive were presented to Forgotten Harvest and loaded onto the agency's trucks.

Earlier this year, Daimler Financial donated three brand new Freightliner and Sterling trucks to Forgotten Harvest's growing fleet.

Klaus Entenmann, president and chief executive officer of Daimler Financial Services Americas, along with employees, made the presentations to Susan Goodell, executive director of Forgotten Harvest.

"At Daimler Financial Services Americas, our commitment to the region is clear — we believe in the long-term potential of Michigan and want to facilitate job growth in the area as well as strengthening the community in which we live," Entenmann said.

"All of us believe in the mission of Forgotten Harvest and support Forgotten Harvest as they work hard on a daily basis to feed the hungry in Metro Detroit," he continued.

Goodell, who was expecting only the donation of food from the company, said she was ecstatic to accept the unexpected monetary donation.

"This is an extraordinary act of kindness from the employees of Daimler Financial Services who have been a powerhouse supporter of Forgotten Harvest over the last few years and have donated trucks, volunteers and leadership," she said.

"This donation will go toward our capital campaign fund and represents a significant step toward achieving the $3.6 million which will enable us to improve our service to those in need across Metro Detroit," Goodell concluded.
