HOUSTON — The National Alliance of Buy-Here, Pay-Here Dealers announced Monday that it is compiling a comprehensive report containing statistics on the use of payment devices by BHPH operators.

Kenneth Shilson, CPA and NABD founder, explained that technology will play an important role in the future success of this industry and that payment devices can be an important component of the technology solution.

"The industry needs independently compiled statistics in order to evaluate the use of these devices and to formulate reasonable expectations. These devices are growing rapidly in their usage and this report will quantify the results," Shilson pointed out.

"At our upcoming Underwriting and Collections Conference, Nov. 8-10, 2009, we will discuss our findings and have interactive discussions with both providers and users of these devices. Our report will provide findings on how they impact bad debt losses, default rates and the behavioral patterns of buy-here, pay-here customers," he continued.

Moreover, Shilson went on to say: "This report will include our initial findings, but NABD plans to compile additional statistics in the future. We plan to work closely with a select sampling of operators to determine regional variances and to understand how each operator's application of the devices impacts the results.

"In the current economic environment operators must better understand how these devices impact their profitability and cash flow," he concluded.
