FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Lease returns just got easier for Nissan and Infiniti customers. And
dealers may be able to take advantage of more potential customers coming
in to purchase a new ride after cashing their lease in.

The two Japanese brands revealed late last week their new app called RPM Mobile.

"This app allows dealers to complete a lease return simply by using a cell phone or tablet," officials asserted.

So, how does it work?

When a customer wants to return a leased vehicle, using the app on the
iPhone, iPad or Android device, dealers can scar a sticker found on the
inside of the driver's side door.

"That makes the Vehicle Identification Number and customer's information pop up," officials explained.

"Then the customer confirms everything on the screen is correct and electronically signs a return-receipt," they added.

Dealers can also use the new app to purchase a customer's leased
vehicle when the customer returns it to the dealer, the companies noted.

Dealers can select a payoff method, confirm the purchase and get a
receipt; then the dealer can sell the car back to the customer.

"Nissan and Infiniti are the first and only brands using this type of
new application.  It makes the process quicker, and it is more accurate
to scan in VIN numbers instead of writing them down for transfer into a
computer," officials contend.

All Nissan and Infiniti dealerships in the U.S. will be able to start using the new technology this month.
