Spireon Founder Hands Over CEO Role
IRVINE, Calif. — Spireon, makers of the GoldStar GPS
solution intended to help dealers and auto finance companies keep closer tabs
on vehicles, announced a major management change today, revealing the
transition to a new chief executive officer.
The company indicated the change of CEO from Brian Boling to
Marc Brungger takes effect today on the heels of Spireon's record-breaking
first-quarter performance.
Spireon insisted Boling will play an instrumental role in
transitioning the company's leadership to Brungger, who came to this new
position after being the executive vice president of auto physical damage at
Mitchell. Brungger was a developer of integrated technology solutions and
steered the company through a successful transition from legacy software
products to a unified platform capable of supporting solutions for three
vertical markets.
"I am honored and privileged to join the outstanding team at
Spireon which has led to the company's current position at the forefront of our
industry," Brungger said.
"As a true innovator and visionary, Brian Boling built this
company from a concept drawn on a napkin to the industry force it is today,"
Brungger continued. "I look forward to building on his legacy and working
closely with Brian as we transition Spireon toward a billion dollar enterprise
in the next few years. This is my vision for the company, and I have no doubt that
we will be able to accomplish it."
Once the transition had been completed, Spireon said Boling
will continue his involvement in developing and guiding the strategy and vision
of the company as a director on the board.
The major change comes in the midst of a string of positive
developments for the company.
Spireon highlighted that it posted double-digit growth in
revenue and units compared to Q1 of last year as a part of its record-breaking
sales performance during the first quarter.
Breaking its highest all-time number of device activations,
Spireon recently shipped its 3 millionth device. The company also shipped more
than twice as many devices to the local fleet market and more than doubled its
total subscribers in transportation, while also expanding its shipments to automotive
lenders by nearly 50 percent as compared to a year ago.
Spireon also shipped more than 250,000 units of its new
embedded device, Talon, within the first 90 days of its release and tripled its
customer service support team and established a dedicated order desk and
hotline.
Furthermore, during last month's National Alliance of
Buy-Here, Pay-Here Dealers National Conference in Las Vegas, Spireon unveiled a
sneak peak of Goldstar GPS Mobile, its new enhanced mobile platform for its
GoldStar GPS solution.
That tool is expected to be fully launched later this month.
The company highlighted the mobile platform can deliver
GoldsStar GPS risk mitigation and collateral management solutions to dealers
and lenders, allowing them to quickly and effectively track assets and recover
vehicles "from the palm of their hand."
Through an optimized interfaced designed to be easy to use,
Spireon explained dealer and lender clients can assess vehicle locations as
well as real-time, on-demand vehicle information from any browser with no need
to download an app.
All of these developments created a development crescendo for
Boling, who founded the company in 2002 when it was called ProconGPS. In 2011,
ProconGPS merged with EnfoTrace and PFS to form Spireon.
"This has been a truly amazing ride for me," Boling said.
"Spireon is my passion, and I will carry on my advocacy for Spireon's
employees, customers, investors and all stakeholders of the company.
"I am extremely proud of the world-class team we have
assembled here whose passion, commitment and dedication to serve are the very
reason we were able to continuously celebrate record-breaking sales," Boling
went on to say. "I'm confident that this outstanding team will continue to
break records and deliver exceptional value to customers under the experienced
leadership of Brungger."
Brungger said he will be dedicating the first 30 days in office
by holding individual meetings, discussions and town halls with Spireon
employees, customers and partners to glean as much knowledge as possible from
those who interact with Spireon's products on a daily basis.
The new CEO stressed that he is looking forward to moving
the company toward its mission to connect companies to their mobile assets and
workforce through game changing information platforms, giving them the power to
manage actionable business intelligence.
In addition, Brungger emphasized he will be furthering the
company's customer-centric culture that places a priority on meeting customer
needs and supporting positive customer outcomes.
"Our customers are
our No. 1 priority," said Brungger, who spent more than 20 years at Mitchell
after earning his degree in his native Switzerland. "Every member of the
Spireon team, myself included, remains committed to actively seeking our
customers' ongoing input and feedback on our products, programs and services to
ensure we continue to deliver the value they deserve."
