HANOVER, Md. — The keynote speaker set to present at the National Automotive Finance Association’s 16th annual conference this spring was revealed this week. And this speaker could potentially be answering many dealer and industry concerns regarding the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and actions the organization will be taking.

Tapped for the conference is Richard Hackett, assistant director at the CFPB.

Commenting on the keynote choice, Jack Tracey, the NAF Association’s executive director, shared, “The association is fortunate to have Rick as our keynote speaker.

“The CFPB is just getting off the ground, and our members are interested to learn more about the bureau. This is one of the first opportunities our members will have to hear directly from the auto financing industry’s regulator. We’re excited to be able to provide this opportunity,” he continued.

And just what will Hackett be covering?

Officials noted the keynote presentation will be focused on questions submitted in advance by the association’s members.

The members' questions will be compiled, and NAF Association’s counsel, Tom Hudson, chairman, Hudson Cook, LLP, will pose the questions to Hackett at the conference, the association explained.

And highlighting the speaker’s background, Hackett spent over 30 years in private practice representing creditors and leads the Installment and Liquidity Lending Group in the Research, Markets and Rulemaking Division of the CFPB.

Furthermore, his responsibilities at the bureau include advising all divisions on market information and policy and legal issues in the installment and specialty lending areas, including vehicle finance.

The conference is scheduled for May 30 to June 1, at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas.
