Assurant Vehicle Care Technology Plus now includes smartphone repair benefits

Smartphones and cars seem to go together, so Assurant wants to help consumers protect both pieces of technology.
Last week, the company announced the launch of Assurant Vehicle Care Technology Plus, a vehicle service contract (VSC) offering consumers protection for their vehicles and mobile device.
Assurant said that for the first time, customers can get comprehensive protection for their vehicle’s high-tech components and wear-and-tear items, with an added benefit at no cost to the customer for their smartphone’s most common repairs, including screens, charging ports, batteries, and buttons.
“We understand that consumers expect more from their protection plans, and we’re uniquely positioned to deliver this ground-breaking new product,” Assurant Global Automotive president Jeff Strickland said in a news release. “With our diverse range of solutions spanning vehicle coverage and smartphone benefits, Assurant is the only company capable of offering such comprehensive protection.”
Assurant Vehicle Care Technology Plus puts the focus on technology, as today’s vehicles increasingly offer expensive and advanced technology, such as safety system sensors, adaptive cruise control, and infotainment screens.
Recognizing the expanding role of mobile devices in vehicle ownership, including use as a digital key, the company highlighted this new offering goes beyond traditional vehicle service contracts to include the benefit of Assurant Device Care, which gives customers access to smartphone repair at reduced fees.
Highlights of Assurant Vehicle Care Technology Plus include:
—Assurant Device Care includes the most common smartphone repairs, including screens, charging ports, batteries, and buttons, at a reduced repair fee. Customers can visit any of the 900+ Assurant Repair Network locations nationwide for the discounted repair.
—Wear-and-tear coverage for parts not covered by a vehicle manufacturer’s warranty, like wheel alignment, battery, fuses, headlamp bulbs, belts and hoses, spark plugs, and windshield wiper blades.
—Complementary protection against being stranded, including 24/7 emergency roadside assistance, substitute transportation benefits, and emergency travel expense reimbursement.
—An intuitive digital user experience, online and via a companion app, that enables consumers to manage their service contracts, access roadside assistance, track maintenance, and receive important updates all in one convenient platform.
The company noted that emergency travel expense reimbursement is not available in New York.
By offering this versatile protection plan, Assurant also provides dealers an opportunity to re-engage customers who initially decline traditional vehicle service contracts, offering a more affordable alternative that delivers significant value and added peace-of-mind.
