HANOVER, Md. — The National Automotive Finance Association is preparing for its 14th Annual Below-Prime Credit Auto Financing Conference slated to kick off next week at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth.

The event will run June 2-4, with Dan Berce, chief executive officer of AmeriCredit, serving as the keynote speaker on the morning of June 4.

He is expected to discuss the events at AmeriCredit over the past two years, provide perspective on where the below-prime auto finance industry is heading and reflect on what the industry needs to do to stay healthy, according to association officials.

The conference will commence with a workshop called "How the ABS (asset-back securities) Market is Working" on June 3. Lain Gutierrez and Chris D'Onofrio, of Cold Street Partners, will share their expertise and advice on the ABS market.

Moreover, presenters from Standard & Poor's, J.D. Power and Associates, the National Automobile Dealers Association and Manheim will all be accompanied by panels to touch upon below-prime dealer trends and remarketing methods, in addition to legal and regulatory issues.

Other subjects slated for coverage include the effectiveness of GPS tracking and starter-interrupt devices on portfolio performance and a preview of results from the NAF Association's annual below-prime auto financing survey.

Even a special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation will take center stage to discuss fraud schemes taking place in the new decade.
