CENTREVILLE, Va. -

Carfax said Wednesday that its free “Carfax for Dealers” mobile application is now available on Android mobile devices.

The app — which has already been launched for the iPhone and other Apple devices — allows dealers to tap into their Carfax accounts while they are out and about.

“I made sure to download the app the day it came out and started using it right away,” stated Marc Schumacher, director of used vehicle acquisitions at Vienna, Va.-based Jim Koons Automotive Companies.

“If I’m not online, I’m usually at the auction and need quick and handy access to Carfax. I won’t buy any car unless I’ve got the Carfax,” he added. “The ‘Carfax for Dealers’ app instantly puts the information I need to make an informed buying decision right in front of me. I’ll be using it constantly.”

Here is how the app is designed to work. Dealers run the Carfax Report by punching in the VIN number or scanning the unit’s barcode.

When a dealer runs a vehicle is the Carfax for Dealers app, the unit is automatically posted to the dealership’s to the particular store’s inventory manager on www.carfaxonline.com.

These reports are saved for as many as 30 days. Dealers can also use the app to tag certain vehicles as their “favorites.”

“We don’t put any cars on our lot without checking Carfax first,” said Mike Foote, who is the general manager at Albany, N.Y.’s Lia Honda.

“When you’re the highest bidder at auction, you want to know you’re buying with confidence and the Carfax app gives us that,” Foote continued. “Our trade appraisal process is also more efficient, eliminating the need to run back and forth while customers sit and wait. It’s everything right at your fingertips.”
To download the app, dealers can visit the following sites for their respective mobile devices:

“I just got an Android phone yesterday and the ‘Carfax for Dealers’ app was the first thing I downloaded onto it,” said Chris Stellakis, who owns CJ’s Car America in Bridgeport, N.Y.

“We rely on Carfax Reports as part of our used car operations, which makes this app a must-have for us,” Stellakis noted. “As an independent dealer, now we’ll be even more confident we’re putting our customers in a quality used car.”
