BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -

AutoTec announced Thursday the release of a new quick-start guide that focuses on the importance of place-based social media and how to use it in the auction industry.

The company’s management stressed that “it’s a great time for auctions to get on the social media bandwagon.”

AutoTec, the developers of AuctionACCESS, recently released its Foursquare Quick-Start Guide — a comprehensive look at how participating AuctionACCESS auctions can begin using the popular social media site to attract customers.

"The Foursquare Quick-Start Guide is full of helpful tips and best practices tailored specifically for our auction partners," said AutoTec president and chief executive offer Chuck Redden.

"Even if you’ve never heard of foursquare, this guide contains everything you need to know,” he added.

The guide focuses on the fundamentals of foursquare and how to get started, as well as best practices for using the site.

Additionally, it lists what AutoTec sees as the top five reasons why auctions should consider using foursquare, a list which includes areas like improved customer retention and better customer service.

"This guide has everything you need to turn your auction into a foursquare hotspot," Redden said.

Moreover, participating auctions can find a rundown of foursquare “Specials,” which are customizable, incentivized promotions that auctions can utilize to attract new business and promote specific products and even reward customers.

"Auctions who follow these valuable, step-by-step instructions should have foursquare-savvy dealers checking in to their locations in no time,” Redden concluded.
