COSTA MESA, Calif. -

Gas prices have begun to come down from the dramatic surges spotted this spring but are still at relatively high levels. In light of high fuel costs, NADAguides shared recently what it has found to be the fuel-friendliest rides.

Leading the way on the NADAguides Most Fuel Efficient Vehicles list — which is broken down by 10 segments — is Volkswagen.

The VW brand is represented in four categories, while the Audi brand is represented in three.

Ford, Honda, Kia, Nissan, Smart and Toyota each claimed two spots. Mitsubishi, BMW and Scion each were represented in one spot, respectively.

Troy Snyder, NADAguides’ director of product development, cited the $3.85 per gallon national average on May 24 and noted that, “with that in mind, our analysts continue to provide information to help consumers find vehicles across all body styles, offering the most fuel economy within each category.

“Consumer will find comfort knowing that there is a model or two available across all body style segments that offers a combined MPG of at least 23 miles per gallon,” he shared.
