COSTA MESA, Calif. -

NADAguides unveiled a list of vehicles Thursday that are generating the most market buzz, but also are showing the most limited supply.

Interestingly enough, three of the six models listed on the Most In Demand Vehicles Report were from Hyundai or Kia. Ford, Toyota and Honda claimed the other three spots.

The first step NADAguides analysts took in creating the list was finding what they considered to be the 25 most in-demand units. In choosing the 25, the team considered overall industry sales in April and consumer interest on NADAguides.com.

Out of those 25 in-demand models, NADAguides then selected the models with a supply of less than 30 days at the end of April.

The six making the final list include:

—April sales were up almost to 138 percent year-over-year. Ranked No. 22 in industry for sales total.
—Consumer interest ranked No. 14 on NADAguides.com during April.
—Days of supply at the end of April was 29.

NADAguides also provided a list of similar, yet, alternative rides for each of the six Most In Demand units, respectively. These alternative models have stronger supplies.

They are as follows, with end-of-April supply level in parenthesis along with the unit suggested as an alternative:

2011 GMC Acadia (68 days’ supply, Explorer)
2011 Mitsubishi Lancer (88 days’ supply, Civic)
2011 Suzuki SX4 (94 days’ supply, Elantra)
2011 Nissan Altima (64 days’ supply, Sonata)
2011 Mazda CX-7 (67 days’ supply, Sorento)
2011 Honda CR-Z (69 days’ supply, Prius)

“Our Most In Demand Vehicles Report aims to provide insight into the current supply and demand of popular new cars,” explained Troy Snyder, NADAguides’ director of product development.

“By bringing attention to the most wanted vehicles on the market that are currently in short demand and offering alternative options, car shoppers are able to use this information to save time, understand what is currently available on the market, find vehicles that are readily available and find a vehicle that handles their specific needs and wants in a new car,” he added.
