Suzuki & Nissan to Integrate Pandora Into Vehicles
It was announced late last week that personalized radio service Pandora has a couple new partnerships with OEMs.
First, the company revealed at the New York International Auto Show that it has added Nissan as the latest automaker to offer in-car availability of Pandora.
And the new service will be featured in the 2013 Altima model, which is set to hit the lots this summer, officials noted.
The company went on to explain that the Nissan system will support Pandora functions including the “thumbs-up, thumbs-down” feature, as well as track skip. And the in-car connectivity works through a paired iPhone running the Pandora application, officials explained.
Commenting on the news, Pandora executive vice president of business and corporate development Jessica Steel said, "At Pandora, we continue to work diligently to make listening to personalized radio as easy in the car as it is at home. We are excited to welcome Nissan as a key automotive partner helping us achieve that aim."
Suzuki Announces Plans to Integrate Pandora into Vehicles
The company also announced in New York that Suzuki unveiled plans to integrate Pandora into the radio of its vehicles.
Now, Pandora will be available through a Garmin unit that will be factory-installed on most 2013 model year Suzuki vehicles, officials explained.
Similar to Nissan, the Suzuki system will support Pandora functions including the “thumbs-up, thumbs-down” feature, as well as track skip. And the in-car connectivity works through a paired iPhone running the Pandora application, officials explained.
The first Suzuki vehicles with the Pandora feature are expected to be available at dealerships beginning this fall.
Commenting on the new partnership, Steel said, "As Pandora continues to redefine radio, we are excited to welcome new automotive brands like Suzuki who are making it possible for listeners and drivers to enjoy their personalized radio stations while on-the-road."
Representatives from Garmin also expressed enthusiasm regarding the recent news.
"Pandora offers a unique radio experience so we’re pleased to enable their offering for consumers who choose the Garmin infotainment system for Suzuki vehicles," said Matt Munn, Garmin’s managing director for automotive OEMs.
"Our built-in voice command technology makes it easy for drivers to control Pandora’s features from the in-dash radio of their vehicle,” he added.
To date, Pandora has announced partnerships with a total of 18 automotive brands (including the aforementioned two new brands announced recently) and seven aftermarket manufacturers.
