ATLANTA -

As a seasonal interest in luxury and performance vehicles takes off, it may be hard for consumers to find certain popular models. In fact, dealers who are lucky enough to have BMW M Series units on their lots may not have them for long.

According to the first installment of used and certified pre-owned scarcity data that will be provided monthly to Auto Remarketing from AutoTrader.com —  including the 10 Most Scarce CPO Vehicles and 10 Most Scarce Late-Model Used Vehicles on a national scale and for each of the top 10 Designated Market Areas — the BMW M Series was the hardest model to find nationwide for both CPO and used this past June.

It’s also on the top of the list of scarcest units in multiple metropolitan areas, including Atlanta and Los Angeles.

This may not come as a surprise, as Kbb.com just reported that for the second consecutive month, site traffic in the luxury segment increased this past May.

Moreover, the luxury car segment experienced a lift in traffic with a 12.9-percent month-over-month increase.

The rest of the list of top ten scarcest vehicles for CPO and used in the nation is also dominated by luxury and performance vehicles and brands, with Audi filling three spots on the CPO vehicles list of units hardest to find, with a spattering of Porsche and Lexus units throughout, as well.

Also of interest, the only domestic units on the nationwide lists are the CPO Chevrolet Corvette,  late-model Pontiac Solstice, the late-model Hummer H3T and the used Saturn Sky.

Besides revealing the scarcest units nationwide for June, AutoTrader.com broke the data down by major metropolitan area, as well.

The results were largely similar, with import and luxury units dominating the lists. That said, GMC made a few showings, with its Sierra 1500.

The Blue Oval appeared, as well, with its CPO Ford F-250 in the No. 4 spot in the nation’s capitol, and the used Explorer Sport Trac and F-450  running low in Los Angeles. The Ford Mustang also ranked No. 10 hardest CPO unit to find in Boston.
