MILWAUKEE -

The Greater Milwaukee Auto Auction will celebrate its eighth anniversary this week in a big way, with an expansion from four lanes to five, running 1,100 cars each week, and the installation of new epoxy floors in its lanes.

Opened in 2004, GMAA is Wisconsin’s largest independent auto auction. Last fall, the auction also expanded to 30 paved acres after landing a large account with General Motors, and joined the AuctionPipeline network.

“We are looking forward to being able to keep our entire inventory and operations at one location; almost doubling in size will ensure this becomes a reality,” GMAA president Kristie Griffin told Auto Remarketing. “This expansion is going to really help … enable us as an auction and grow even more.”

This week, GMAA will hold a “party sale” in honor of the expansion and anniversary, including prizes and giveaways for attending dealers. The sale will be held this Thursday beginning at 10 a.m.

Griffin, who in November 2011 was named among Auto Remarketing’s Women in Remarketing honorees, said the day will offer something for everyone.

“We are giving away $35,000 in prizes, and every dealer gets a gift,” Griffin announced.

The prizes include big screen TVs, gas grills, generators, polo shirts and more, added GMAA staffer Jim Zanto added.
