Ford Scores 7 Honorees in Vincentric’s Inaugural Best Fleet Value in Canada Awards
For the first time ever, Vincentric this week announced its Vincentric Best Fleet Value in Canada awards, analyzing cost of ownership.
Topping the chart with seven vehicles named to the list is Ford. Other brands noted by Vincentric as having a cost-efficient fleet lineup include Chrysler, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota, each winning five awards.
“With the continued globalization of the automotive industry, we felt it was essential to analyze total cost of ownership of fleet vehicles in Canada,” said David Wurster, president of Vincentric. “We are excited to help Canadian fleet organizations better understand and evaluate Canada specific lifecycle costs to help make informed vehicle selections.”
The awards show a strong performance by Ford, which reportedly leads the Canadian market year-to-date; in key fleet segments with the Taurus, F-150 pickup and E-150 passenger van top the Ford winners’ list in the Vincentric awards.
The Toyota Camry took top honors in the popular mid-size sedan segment, and winners in other major fleet segments included the Dodge Grand Caravan and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which took home three awards.
In the emerging plug-in/electric segment the Chevrolet Volt led the way, while Volvo also performed well in the premium segments with three award-winning vehicles from its XC lineup.
“We are very pleased to receive these three awards from Vincentric,” said Brad Painter, national marketing manager for Volvo Cars of Canada. “These accolades reinforce the fact that in addition to offering luxury and versatility, Volvo’s XC range offers tremendous value.”
Commenting on Subaru’s award in the passenger wagon segment with its Impreza Base, president and chief executive officer of Subaru Canada Shiro Ohta said, “We are pleased that our award-winning Subaru Impreza has earned yet another accolade. The Subaru Impreza offers much more than what’s expected in a compact car and this achievement further strengthens the confidence Canadians have in the value of our brand.”
In determining the 2012 Vincentric Best Fleet Value in Canada awards, Vincentric analyzed more than 1,700 vehicle configurations in 24 different lifecycle cost scenarios, the company said, using eight cost factors including depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost and repairs.
The lifecycle costs were measured in all 10 Canadian provinces, with the resulting 3 million-plus measurements reviewed to determine the winning vehicles.
