LeasePlan Helps Out Children’s Shelter in Community
LeasePlan USA recently gave back to its community through a bus donation to a children’s shelter, a gesture that now allows the shelter to meet state guidelines concerning transportation of children.
The bus was donated to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, a cause that provides child development and support services for homeless families who are looking to become self-sufficient.
LeasePlan was able to find a bus that meets the recently updated Georgia laws regarding requirements for child transportation. With this bus, ACS can now check off one of the requirements it needs to qualify as a Georgia Bright from the Start LICENSED Early Childhood Education Program.
“I have an overwhelming sense of pride that I am a part of a company that cares about making a difference in the community. This bus will be influential in creating wonderful memories for the children at ACS. Beginning in May, the children will begin taking two field trips a month around Georgia,” said Jennifer Stewart, director of manufacturer programs and chairperson for LeasePlan Cares.
LeasePlan worked with Amerifleet to help transport the bus to the shelter.
LeasePlan employees and members of Amerifleet along with ACS executive director Sandra Keating, ACS employees and five ACS children were present for the bus presentation.
“LeasePlan’s commitment to our community leaves a long lasting footprint in the lives of homeless children at the Shelter. This bus enables us to enrich their lives by exposing them to a world of learning which will help spark a lifelong quest of exploration and achievement,” Keating said.
LeasePlan president and chief executive officer Michael Pitcher said: “Seeing the children’s faces light up when they got on the bus reinforces to me how important it is to continue to take the time to help others.”
