Hillary Clinton to Keynote Next NADA Convention
Adding to the list of distinguished keynote speakers during the past several years, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will address the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention & Expo in New Orleans in January.
Clinton will deliver keynote remarks on the closing day of the 2014 NADA Convention & Expo on Jan. 27.
Clinton served as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 through 2013 after nearly four decades in public service as an advocate, attorney, First Lady and U.S. Senator.
Other convention speakers include Steve Forbes, chairman and editor in chief of Forbes Media, and NADA chairman David Westcott, a franchised dealer in Burlington, N.C., who will deliver remarks on Jan. 25.
Army veteran J.R. Martinez, who was injured by a roadside bomb while deployed in Iraq and later won ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” (13th season), will provide an inspirational address on Jan. 26.
Considered the “Automotive Industry Event of the Year,” this will be the 97th annual NADA Convention & Expo, which runs Jan. 24-27 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. It includes 26 dealer franchise meetings, hundreds of industry exhibitors and more than 160 educational workshop sessions.
Past keynote speakers at the convention have included U.S. Presidents Gerald Ford (1988), George H.W. Bush (2000), George H.W. Bush and William J. Clinton (2009) and George W. Bush (2012), as well as U.K. Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher (1993) and John Major (2002).
The American Truck Dealers Convention and Expo runs concurrently with NADA’s four-day convention.
Online registration and housing opens July 22. Dealers and their managers who register by Sept. 13 will receive a $100 discount off the onsite registration rate.

California Franchised Dealers Choose NADART as Preferred Retirement Plan Provider
In other news, the California New Car Dealers Association became the fourth state dealer group this year to select NADART as its licensed retirement plan administrator.
Officials highlighted NADART, the retirement plan and benefits division of NADA, and the CNCDA will work together to deliver a selection of investment and employee benefit options specifically designed for dealer businesses.
“The CNCDA's board of directors carefully selects each licensed vendor,” CNCDA president Brian Maas said. “NADART has a long history of solid financial planning and management. Their experience in the auto industry makes them an ideal choice for California dealers.”
Earlier this year, the state dealer associations in Louisiana, North Carolina and Oregon selected NADART.
“NADART is delighted to serve the members of another state association,” said Betsy Piper-Bach, NADART vice president and chief operating officer. “Our 55 years of experience in serving the dealer industry makes us leaders in providing employee benefit options. Being a licensed vendor is a privilege that NADART doesn't take lightly.”
