NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Nashville campus of National College recently awarded a Distinguished Community Employer plaque to Primeritus Financial Services, one of the presenting sponsors of this year’s Re3 Conference.

Primeritus Financial Services highlighted that it has been instrumental in hiring current students and graduates of National College and has agreed to be an externship site for students enrolled in the campus’s accounting program so that they can get practical experience in a real financial setting.

“We are seeking a higher caliber of account representatives trained in accounting, customer service and with a strong work ethic,” Primeritus human resources director Natasha Dowell said.

“Since National has teamed up with Primeritus, doors have opened for the accounting students of the middle Tennessee campuses — Madison and Nashville — to complete externship hours in a ‘real-world’ financial setting,” Dowell continued.

Dowell went on to mention the chances of National students finding jobs through Primeritus are greater if they have had a positive experience as an extern and a recommendation from Terri McCall, the college’s career center director.

National College graduate Rachel Gonzales was hired by Primeritus as a collections representative in February and was promoted to accounts receivable clerk in May, preceding the commencement ceremony.

“I love my job. Everything I learned in the accounting classes at National College is what I’m doing on a daily basis,” Gonzales said.

“This was a great career choice for me,” Gonzales continued. “I am happy that Mrs. McCall pushed and challenged me to step out of my comfort zone. I would not have this job if she would not have cheered for me on the sidelines.”

Primeritus chief executive officer Chuck Tapp also commented about the relationship between the company and National College

“This connection has blossomed into a good match for the college, the students and Primeritus,” Tapp said. “We are looking forward to a growth period in the months and years ahead and are excited to work with National College in helping us meet our recruiting needs.”
