ATLANTA, and WASHINGTON D.C. -

The industry is rallying to fight hunger during Hunger Action Month, as AutoTrader Group and Sheehy Auto Stores both revealed future plans and results from their efforts this week.

First up, the AutoTrader Group shared that its Drive Away Hunger Campaign collected more than 33,000 pounds of food and donated more than $67,000 to community food banks across the country.

This was the second year in a row the company’s employees teamed up to collect food for food banks in communities across the U.S. This time around, the campaign surpassed last year’s donation by almost 10,000 pounds of food, officials reported, and AutoTrader Group donated two dollars to Feeding America food banks for every pound of food donated by its employees.

“At AutoTrader Group we are committed to serving the communities in which we live and work,” said AutoTrader.com director of community relations Michele Blondheim. “Together, we are proud of the raised awareness and how much food and funds were donated from the Drive Away Hunger program and we look forward to continuing to create impactful and engaging ways to support this important cause.”

Sheehy Auto Stores Fall Food Driver

Farther north, Sheehy Auto Stores is just getting started with its Fall Food Drive, which is set to start Sunday and go through Oct. 14 to benefit Feeding America and the Southern Maryland Food Bank.

"While hunger among our communities is a year-round concern, we look forward to helping in making a difference starting in September – Hunger Action Month," said Vince Sheehy, president of Sheehy Auto Stores.  "We hope to rally the support of our customers and neighbors as we collect as much food as possible through our family of dealerships."
