Three-fourths of 2013 are in the books, and it appears for many automakers that this year will be quite a success in the certified pre-owned market.

A few OEM CPO programs have already shared their September sales results as well as offering a look at how 2013 is stacking up for certified through three quarters.

Starting with Ford, its brands CPO sales reached 17,861 units last month, putting the year-to-date sum at 170,397 sales.

The Ford/Lincoln brands sold 16,050 CPO units in September, and have sold 153,965 units in nine months. Monthly figures for Lincoln came in at 1,811 CPO sales, with annual sales reaching 16,432 units.

At Hyundai, September certified sales were 9.1 percent at 5,927 units sold, but year-to-date sales are still up 10.5 percent with 57,390 transactions reported.

For Mazda, its September CPO sales increased from 2,811 units to 2,994. Through nine months, Mazda dealers have sold 27,864 certified vehicles, compared to 19,273 in the same period of 2012.

What's more, Mazda sold more certified vehicles in nine months of 2013 than it did in the entirety of 2012, says Roger Basa, manager of CPO and remarketing.

Kia sold 2,917 certified vehicles last month, a 61.7-percent increase. Through nine months, it has moved 25,112 CPO units this year for a 79.1-percent gain.

Audi moved 2,982 CPO units last month, up from 2,799 in September 2012. Its certified totals through nine months include 29,070 sales, compared to 27,640 CPO sales in the year-ago time frame.

Volvo sold 685 CPO vehicles in September, compared to 996 certified sales in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, sales reached 7,858 units, down from 8,983 CPO sales in nine months of 2012.

There were 6,649 sales within the Mercedes-Benz certified pre-owned last month. In nine months, sales have reached 72,890 vehicles, a 22.3-percent improvement.

Reporting combined certified pre-owned and pre-owned, BMW said dealers sold 13,877 used BMWs last month, compared to 13,624 units a year ago.

Year-to-date, the tally is at 132,136 vehicles, up from 122,576 in the year-ago period.

As for CPO and pre-owned sales for the Mini brand, these were at 1,701 units in September (down 0.7 percent) and reached 16,181 vehicles (up 17.9 percent) year-to-date.

Porsche moved 828 CPO units in September and 7,314 certified vehicles in nine months.
