Cox Automotive said Thursday that executive Derek Hansen has been named vice president of operations for its Inventory Solutions Group, where he will lead the company’s wholesale-to-retail inventory management efforts.

Specifically, Hansen will focus on vAuto’s new Variable Management strategy and developing the Kelley Blue Book Instant Cash Offer and Upside products.

Hansen has been with Cox Automotive since 2015. He began as senior director of strategic planning and then became vice president of digital inventory solutions, where he led Manheim’s digital operations.

Hansen’s most recent post was as vice president of wholesale operations for vAuto.

“Derek’s deep knowledge and experience in wholesale and retail operations make him the perfect person to lead this group,” Cox Automotive Inventory Solutions president Grace Huang said in a news release.

“With today’s inventory challenges, Derek’s expertise in helping dealers understand how to achieve greater profitability in any market will be invaluable as they navigate a changing automotive landscape,” Huang said.
