GM Recalls Hummer H3 Models
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The parade of recalls coming through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defect Investigations continues. This time, one involves General Motors and the Hummer H3.
Officials indicated on Wednesday that GM is recalling this Hummer unit from the 2006 to 2010 model-years to rectify a condition involving clip-tabs on the hood louver. They explained that the problem can cause the hood louver to rattle against the hood and become loose.
If left unrepaired, NHTSA believes additional clip-tabs could fracture and the hood louver could detach from the vehicle. If detachment occurs while the vehicle is being driven, officials think following vehicles could sustain damage and injuries could result.
NHTSA also indicated that dealers already have a remedy for this recall. The office explained service personnel can apply an adhesive to the hood louver to secure it properly. The repair is to be completed free of charge.
The automaker instructed Hummer H3 owners to call (800) 732-5493 or visit http://www.gmownercenter.com/ for more recall details.
NHTSA also invited consumers to learn more about recalls by calling (888) 327-4236 or going to http://www.safercar.gov/.
