For most of us, October means autumn in full swing, Halloween, the beginning of Q4 and maybe football.

For the leadership and staff of ADESA Salt Lake in Salt Lake City, Utah, this month is extra special – especially this year.

October 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the auction, which opened in 1949 as Brasher’s Salt Lake Auto Auction.

ADESA Salt Lake, founded by Frank and Esther Brasher, is one of the nation’s oldest auto auctions.

It was a family-run business for decades, creating jobs and supporting the community for generations. Several team members in the accounting, body shop repair and vehicle inspection departments have been with the company for more than 25 years.

Since its first sale, which included just 13 cars, ADESA Salt Lake has grown into one of the nation’s premier auto auction sites, covering 70 acres and offering vehicle storage for 7,000 cars. The facility features 12 auction lanes, a detail shop and a body and paint shop.

ADESA Salt Lake said its buyers come from all over the western region to the Salt Lake City market, which includes a strong demand for trucks and SUVs driven by the region’s outdoor culture and large families.

“We believe this anniversary is not just a celebration for ADESA Salt Lake,” the company said in a news release, “but also for the Salt Lake City community that has supported us through the years.”
