Dealer news: Rick Case Mazda’s grand re-opening; acquisition in Louisiana; NY dealer group double-dips on awards
Rick Case Mazda unveiled its new look last week.
The Duluth, Ga., dealership held a grand re-opening celebration that capped an eight-month expansion and renovation project. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by community leaders — including Duluth mayor Greg Whitlock and five city council members — as well as Mazda executives.
As a result of the project, Rick Case Mazda nearly doubled in size, from 11,975 to 22,320 square feet, with twice the number of service stalls and new vehicle service technology.
“Rick Case Mazda is investing in the Duluth community with this state-of-the-art dealership,” Rick Case Automotive Group president and CEO Rita Case said. “I am so excited for our loyal customers to see these beautiful upgrades and to earn the business of new customers who need a new vehicle or service to their existing vehicles.”
In a news release, the dealership group highlighted the store’s new “jewel box”, a two-story glass-enclosed car display with a vehicle at ground level and another raised above it on a lift, saying the modernized design “aligns with Mazda’s new retail evolution image program.”
Rick Case Automotive said the newly expanded dealership will create 15 new jobs, a 30% increase, and expects a 60% jump in sales.
Matt Bowers adds New Orleans-area dealership
Matt Bowers Auto Group has added another dealership in the New Orleans area.
The dealership group, based in Slidell, La., acquired Hyundai Genesis of Metairie from New Orleans-based Bohn Brothers Automotive Group, according to Kerrigan Advisors, which represented the seller in the transaction.
The store is the fourth in the New Orleans market for the Matt Bowers Group, which now operates seven locations in Louisiana, Alabama and Tennessee.
With the sale, as well as recent divestitures of Audi Lafayette and Audi New Orleans, Bohn Brothers’ dealership holdings are now down to Toyota of Slidell, Kerrigan Advisors said. The group was founded in 1924 by George W. and had owned Hyundai of Metairie since 2009.
