NAAA Cybersecurity Task Force begins work with quick start guide for auctions
The National Auto Auction Association’s newly created Cybersecurity Task Force has completed its first task.
The group, which was created in October following the NAAA World Remarketing Convention, launched its Cybersecurity Essentials for Auctions, an ongoing series of resources to provide information and guidance on cybersecurity protections for NAAA members.
The first of those resources is a quick start guide designed to highlight the top three cybersecurity areas of focus and potential costs to address them. The guide also goes into more detail about risks, controls, and steps you can take immediately to address potential threats.
NAAA said the task force, which is led by NAAA president-elect Eddie Lafferty and includes representatives from 12 industry organizations, has spent the past several months exchanging ideas and best practices and discussing how to best keep association members informed of cybersecurity trends, active attacks and threats, and data breaches.
The association said there will also be a session specifically focused on cybersecurity during the upcoming NAAA Spring Remarketing Exchange, coming up April 22-24 in Phoenix.
