As Manheim begins its 80th anniversary year, the company’s first and largest auction will have new leadership.

Joey Hughes, who has led Manheim Pennsylvania — Manheim’s flagship location, which claims the title of world’s largest wholesale auto auction — since 2016, has been promoted to regional vice president for the East Region, overseeing more than two dozen Manheim locations.

He succeeds Matt Trapp, who was named vice president of fleet operations for Manheim’s parent company Cox Automotive last year.

Hughes joined Manheim in 2001 as a client services manager for Manheim North Carolina and has since held a variety of roles, including general manager of Manheim Darlington and Manheim Statesville, and vice president of the Carolina Market in 2010.

Stepping in as general manager of the Manheim Pennsylvania Market Center, which includes Manheim Pennsylvania and Manheim Keystone, is 27-year company veteran Emily Decker, who most recently served as GM of the Arizona Market Center, in charge of Manheim Phoenix and Manheim Tucson.

In addition, Manheim promoted six others to leadership positions at its auctions.

Toni Hanshaw is the new GM of the Orlando Market Center, handling Manheim Orlando and Manheim Central Florida. She assumes that role after two-plus years as GM of Manheim Central Florida and has previously been GM of Manheim Daytona Beach and Manheim Jacksonville.

Butch Herdegen will move from his position as Minnesota Market Center GM to become general manager of the Manheim Atlanta Market Center, which includes Manheim Atlanta, Manheim Georgia, Manheim Birmingham, Rome Auto Auction and 4-Star Auto Auction. Herdegen, an Auto Remarketing 40 Under 40 honoree in 2024 and NAAA’s Midwest Chapter president, has also served as GM of Manheim locations in Daytona and Jacksonville.

Jennifer Knoke is replacing Herdegen as GM of the Minnesota Market Center, which includes Manheim Minneapolis and Manheim Northstar Minnesota. She began her 24-year career as a human resources manager and was promoted to assistant general manager of the Minnesota Market Center in 2020.

Gus Jones succeeds Decker as Manheim Arizona Market Center GM. His resume includes stints as assistant general manager of Manheim Tucson and Manheim Phoenix, and he’s most recently served as GM of Manheim Arizona.

Dave Crockford, the new GM of Manheim Milwaukee, joined Manheim in 2017 as that auction’s assistant GM following 17 years in automotive retail, including GM roles with Audi Milwaukee and Cadillac of Waukesha.

Lisa Kahoano takes over as GM of Manheim Hawaii after leading numerous operational departments for the auction in her 25-year Manheim career, She most recently served as human resources business partner manager for Manheim’s Hawaii, Seattle, Portland and Utah locations.
