The National Auto Auction Association’s Ron Hope Memorial Scholarship has another recipient.
Fredrick “Frankie” Lingle, fleet manager of Greensboro Auto Auction, has been awarded the scholarship to Auction Academy, joining Greater Rockford Auto Auction’s Abigail Balk, who became its inaugural recipient in December.
The association said Lingle will participate in the academy’s Class 9, which begins this week, while Balk will be part of Class 10.

The scholarship was established during the NAAA World Remarketing Convention in October to honor the legacy of CARS Recon founder and Ron Hope, who died in June. Hope worked in the auto auction industry for more than 50 years and was a passionate advocate for NAAA and Auction Academy.
Lingle’s 10-year career with Greensboro Auto Auction began as a photographer, taking thousands of pictures for the weekly sales. He began helping with accounting and worked his way up to account coordinator and assistant fleet manager before being promoted to his current role.
GAA general manager Houston Gordon said Lingle’s “dedication, hard work and commitment to GAA over the past 10 years has truly made a difference. We are very thankful to see Fredrick be able to partake in the Auction Academy program. Auction Academy is something truly special within our industry, so my advice to Fredrick is to take it all in, ask a lot of questions and enjoy.”
Auction Academy is a two-year continuing career training program designed for auto auction and auto remarketing leaders. The curriculum includes industry certificates/training exposure such as ARA’s Certified Automotive Remarketer and Audit and Compliance Training; NAAA’s Safety, Data Security, Arbitration and Frame Damage Analysis; NADA’s one-day dealer training and more.
