PARIS -

Porsche AG officially has a new chief executive officer with the changeover from Michael Macht to Matthias Mueller taking place during a ceremony in Paris on Wednesday night with the Paris Auto Show set to kick off today.

Macht will be a member of the group board management at Volkswagen AG, where he will head up the production division. Macht will lead control and coordination at the company’s plants.

VW, is in fact, where Mueller comes from. His most recent post before taking the Porsche CEO position was heading up product planning, product management and the model series for VW Group and the VW brand.

Macht was slated to “symbolically hand the Porsche steering wheel to his successor …” during the VW-run event, as Mueller takes on duties for the Porsche AG board of management.

Then today, Mueller will reveal some new models during the auto show: the 911 Speedster as well as the 911 Carrera GTS Coupe and Cabriolet.

“Only the fourth Speedster to have been built in Porsche’s history is a model steeped in purist tradition and reflects the forward-looking nature of the brand, while the new Carrera GTS range with wide body and rear-wheel drive underscores all this,” officials noted.
