BROOKFIELD, Wis. -

Carmoza Auto Transport already has one of Chrysler’s former top executives as president, and now the company has a chief executive officer who used to hold a high post at Ford.

Named this week to the CEO role at Carmoza was Randy Ortiz, who previously oversaw all of Ford’s sales, production, distribution and dealership activities before his retirement in March.

Carmoza mentioned that Ortiz initially joined the company as a member of its board of directors in April. Executives said his new role will take him beyond an advisory role and “straight to the business’s daily front lines.”

The vehicle transport provider also noted Ortiz served as executive director and general manager of Ford Worldwide Direct Market Operations. He was in charge of product development, marketing, sales and service in 117 international markets and led the development of FordDirect, the online shopping joint venture with Ford’s U.S. dealer body.

“Randy was hands-on from the beginning, even as a director on our board, and his extensive experience at Ford makes him a perfect fit to take auto transporting to a whole new level of professionalism,” stated Carmoza president Peter Fong, who along with his time as president and CEO at Chrysler also spent 14 years at Ford in marketing, sales, brand management and service leadership roles.

“I’ve worked for Randy in the past and his leadership skills and results speak for themselves,” Fong added.

Ortiz commented about taking on this new endeavor with Carmoza.

“Auto industry de-stocking, as the result of addressing overcapacity issues, has created some unique inventory management challenges for auto manufacturers and dealers alike,” Ortiz stated.

“Carmoza’s vision is to be the gold standard of auto transport companies that can get the right car, to the right place, at the right time to meet consumer demand,” he continued.

“I am honored to be selected to lead such a dynamic team and be united with great business partners like Pat Croce, Eustace Mita and Peter Fong,” Ortiz added.

Croce, a businessman and former Philadelphia 76ers president, made a basketball comparison when describing Ortiz.

“I’ve seen Randy in action with employees and dealers and was always impressed with his leadership ability,” Croce began. “I am psyched to have the Michael Jordan of the automotive space leading our team. His leadership, experience, passion and vision are truly championship-caliber.”
