Hyundai Taps YouTube Music Duo for New Marketing Campaign
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. -
To help spread the word about some of the deals it is offering, Hyundai has turned to YouTube musical duo Pomplamoose for a few holiday songs in its winter marketing campaign.
The duo, which features Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn, covered three traditional holiday songs that are featured in the Hyundai commercials.
Pomplamoose’s cover of “Deck the Halls” can be heard in the advertisement promoting the $399 per month lease deal on the Hyundai Genesis, while the commercial showcasing the $199 per month lease deal on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata features a cover of “Up on the Rooftop.”
Meanwhile, the duo’s edition of “Jingles” can be heard in various commercials for Accent, Elantra and Santa Fe offers.
The automaker will run the campaign — which debuted last week — through Jan. 3. It is spread throughout TV, radio, social-media and digital channels, and also is featured in point of sale kits as well as e-mail and direct-mail customer relationship management activities.
“Traditional holiday campaigns are like wallpaper. We asked our agency of record, Innocean, to find something that would stand out,” explained John Krafcik, president and chief executive officer at Hyundai Motor America.
“This interesting YouTube sensation, Pomplamoose, intrigued us from the onset, and we’re delighted by the distinct, fresh sound they add to our creative,” he added.
“With the open, honest dialogue created through our recent ‘Uncensored’ campaign still fresh in consumers’ minds, this effort adds charm and warmth — along with amazing deals for car buyers,” Krafcik added. “The integrated campaign will tie all marketing channels and leverage the built-in audience that Pomplamoose has amassed through their video songs.”
