BOSTON -
The Internet Car and Truck of the Year awards were revealed last week during the New England International Auto Show, and in some good news for the Big 3, all of the honors went to domestic models.
The awards consist of four categories: the Car of the Year and Truck of the Year awards as determined by the “Internet Pros,” and the same awards determined by “Internet Joes.” The “Pros” refer to 15 online auto writers and the “Joes” are the general public.
The Car of the Year picked by the “Pros” was the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V, while the “Joes” chose the 2011 Ford Mustang GT.
Both the “Pros” and “Joes” deemed the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee the Truck of the Year.
“Jeep is delighted that the all-new Grand Cherokee has captured this unique award,” stated Mike Manley, the Jeep brand’s president and chief executive officer.
“This acknowledgment demonstrates that both consumers and opinion-leading journalists recognize that the 2011 Grand Cherokee offers an unmatched blend of legendary Jeep capability, premium on-road refinement, superb craftsmanship, world-class design, and advanced safety and technology features,” he added.
Also announced was the Internet Automotive Journalist of the Year, which went to the late Jerry Flint. His widow, fellow auto journalist Katie McLeod, will be given the award at the International Motor Press Association’s meeting, scheduled for Thursday in New York.
