AutoTrader.com Closes KBB Acquisition
AutoTrader.com revealed that it has completed its transaction to acquire Kelley Blue Book.
Site executives said the agreement — which was first announced on Oct. 26 — makes KBB a subsidiary of AutoTrader.com.
AutoTrader.com went on to reiterate a stance it shared during the initial announcement. The site strongly believes in maintaining KBB’s independent and unbiased position in the marketplace.
Furthermore, site officials stressed they are committed to maintaining and strengthening KBB’s role in providing vehicle valuation and other important information to consumers, dealers, manufacturers, financial and governmental institutions.
“Kelley Blue Book has a wonderful history as an iconic brand and trusted provider of vehicle information to generations of car buyers and sellers,” AutoTrader.com president and chief executive officer Chip Perry stated.
“And as we look into the future we believe AutoTrader.com and Kelley Blue Book can together bring a host of new technologies and tools to market that will significantly improve the car shopping process for consumers and help auto dealers and manufacturers better capitalize on the fundamental marketing efficiencies provided by the Internet,” he continued.
This acquisition completion wraps up a busy quarter for AutoTrader.com. Along with securing KBB, the site also scooped up vAuto and HomeNet Automotive. During a previous interview with Auto Remarketing, Perry described the process.
“The last three months have been particularly eventful for AutoTrader because we’ve been able to assemble a group of very high quality assets that together we think will be able to create tremendous values for auto dealers in the future,” Perry insisted.
“Compared to the past, AutoTrader.com grew through internal product development and marketing, what’s called organic growth,” he continued. “We’ve built everything we had in the company to say from scratch over the past 12 years. We’re excited about what we’ve built, but we’re even more excited about what the future offers in terms of leveraging the tools, skills and staff of AutoTrader along with Kelley Blue Book, vAuto and HomeNet.”
