GM’s “Main Street in Motion” Campaign Lets Drivers Compare More than 70 Models
General Motors believes its popular models can contend against any unit from its domestic and foreign competition so it’s launching its “Main Street in Motion” campaign to prove it.
The automaker is holding the campaign’s first stop at Disney’s Epcot Center in Orlando, Fla., beginning today and running through Sunday. The company says this one-of-a-kind competitive driving experience is free and can allow invited and walk-up guests the chance to drive and compare more than 70 all-new makes and models.
“The best part: no pressure to buy,” GM emphasized. “Can the Buick LaCrosse really give the Lexus ES a run for its money? How about the Chevy Silverado versus a Ford F-150? And what about the much anticipated Chevy Volt?”
GM plans to answer those questions as it runs this event daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the overflow parking lot at Disney’s Epcot Center. The OEM is also hosting family-friendly entertainment and providing refreshments.
Vehicles included in the test-drive event are:
—Chevrolet Volt, Cruze, Equinox, Traverse, Corvette, Camaro, Malibu, Impala, Silverado, Silverado HD, Suburban, Tahoe, Tahoe Hybrid, Avalanche and Express.
—Buick Regal, LaCrosse and Enclave.
—GMC Acadia, Sierra, Sierra HD, Sierra Hybrid, Terrain, Yukon, Yukon Denali Hybrid and Savana.
—Acura TSX, MDX and TL.
—Dodge Ram 1500 and Ram 2500.
—Ford Taurus, Explorer, Expedition, F-150 and F-250.
—Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline.
—Lexus ES; Nissan Murano and Maxima.
—Toyota Corolla, Camry, Tundra, Sequoia and RAV4.
—Hyundai Elantra and Santa Fe.
GM said testers must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.
“We know from experience that when people drive our new products head-to-head with the competition, opinion and consideration significantly improve and we sell more vehicles,” explained Steve Tihanyi, GM’s general director of marketing alliances, services and branded entertainment.
“With the product lineup we have today — including the Chevy Cruze, Chevy Volt electric car with extended range capability, Buick Regal, and GMC Terrain — we’re committed to reaching out to new customers and showing them just how competitive we are.”
