CHERRY HILL, N.J. -

Late last week, Subaru of America revealed its new manager of corporate communications. Among other tasks, she will head up the company’s social-media efforts. Named to the post is Rachelle Damminger, who comes to Subaru from Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA.

Damminger was in communications at that non-profit organization for almost five years and was responsible for the rollout of brand positioning and for public relations.

In her new role, she will lead business and lifestyle media relations for the automaker, in addition to the aforementioned social-media responsibilities. She reports to director of corporate communications Michael McHale

“Rachelle is a great addition to our team,” McHale commented. “Her public relations, branding and cause marketing background create a solid foundation for the position.”

Discussing her career background in more detail, officials noted that Damminger’s position before serving at Big Brothers Big Sisters was at national architecture and engineering firm EwingCole. She was the director of communications for that company.

Her public relations career began at Philadelphia’s Alta Communications.

Subaru’s Safety Promotion

In other news from the company, Subaru of America has rolled out a new promotion in Colorado to prevent texting while driving. During the promotion, which is under its regional Subaru Saves Lives campaign, Colorado motorists can sign a contract at any of the seven participating Subaru dealerships to promise not to text and drive.

If a driver signs the pledge, the individual is given code from the dealer to redeem online for two free tickets for the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche.

“Subaru vehicles are known for their safety,” stated Lee Grodsky, Subaru Denver Zone Director.

“However, driver behavior is also a key factor in road safety and by asking drivers to pledge ‘NOT to Text and Drive’ we’re hoping to promote even safer driving, reduce accidents and ultimately save lives,” Grodsky added.

The dealers taking part in the promotion are:

—Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton
—Go West Subaru  in Golden
—Arapahoe Subaru in Englewood
—Flatirons Subaru in Boulder
—Shortline Subaru in Aurora
—Groove Subaru in Englewood
—Valley Subaru in Longmont
