ROYAL OAK, Mich. -

Saab Cars North America revealed a new executive national sales director late last week.

Appointed to the post is James Sweeting, who has 27 years of industry experience in the U.S., including his most recent post at Honda.

The move is effective March 15.

Sweeting’s responsibilities in the position will include heading up sales efforts in North America, which happens to be the automaker’s largest market.

He reports to Matthias Seidl — Saab Automobile AB executive director of global sales and aftersales and its interim chief operating officer — in his new post.

Delving into more detail regarding Sweeting’s experience, he started out with Chrysler. He has worked for American Honda Motor Co. for the last 24 years.

He has held several sales and marketing posts. Sweeting’s most recent position was as zone sales manager for Honda’s South Central Zone.

“We are honored to have Jim join our North American team in a very pivotal year for Saab Cars North America,” Seidl shared.

“Jim’s extensive automotive sales experience will help rebuild Saab’s presence in the North American market, ultimately increasing volume opportunities with our new product portfolio — the all-new 9-5 sedan, Saab’s first crossover, the 9-4X, the 9-5 SportCombi and highly anticipated all-new 9-3,” he added.
