40 Under 40: Annie Duguid
Annie Duguid has been a part of the Cox Enterprises team for much of her professional career.
In 2012, Duguid was looking for her next opportunity within the Cox family — “a company that truly lives out its stated values of dedication to community, customers and employees” — and met with Joe George and Amy Mills, leaders in Manheim product management at the time.
“I had the pleasure of meeting, to talk about an opportunity to help define the product strategies for Manheim. Inspired by their tenure and passion, and energized by the growth opportunities and complexity of the automotive industry, I jumped at the opportunity to join the team. I haven’t looked back since,” Duguid said.
The company leveraged Duguid’s talents when it blended together Manheim and Autotrader, which are both part of what is collectively Cox Automotive.
“I am most proud of the work I did in late 2013 and early 2014 to stand up the first corporate strategy for the newly combined Manheim and Autotrader Group, which ultimately led to the creation of Cox Automotive,” Duguid said. “We were able to guide a newly formed executive team through a process that defined the true scope of our opportunities to transform the way the world buys, sells and owns cars.
“There was no easy script to follow. We were truly paving a new path for Cox Automotive, and we had a lot of fun in the process,” she continued.
“What I enjoy most about the car industry is that it is constantly evolving, with new technologies, and new business models emerging every day,” Duguid went on to say. “It never gets boring thinking about how Cox Automotive, our clients and partners can evolve and stay successful while continuing to meet changing consumer needs.”
While Duguid values the relationships she has with many executives at Cox Automotive, she also pointed out the benefits she receives from her sister, Jennifer Dorian, who is an executive at Turner Broadcasting. Duguid called her sister her career mentor.
“Not only has she selflessly coached me through many career milestones, but she sets a fantastic example for a well-balanced life,” Duguid said. “Jennifer proves that you can have a demanding job that you love, while balancing charitable activities and a fulfilling personal life. In short, I want to be my sister when I grow up.”
Annie Duguid, 37, is the vice president of enterprise product solutions at Cox Automotive.
