40 Under 40: Jose Esparza
Jose Esparza used a medical analogy to describe the most important element of his automotive career.
“I am most proud of the professional network of friends and colleagues that I have been able to develop,” Esparza said. “These relationships are the ‘central nervous system’ for my career.
“These connections aid me in navigating the professional waters while supporting my own continuous growth,” he continued. “Many of these relationships have afforded me the opportunity to drive positive change or supported the successes that I have been fortunate to have. “
Making a connection propelled Esparza into the industry where he is now director of loss mitigation at Ally Financial.
“I was provided an opportunity out of college to join a manager-in-training program for Capital One Auto Finance. This opportunity allowed me to apply my previous financial services and leadership experiences within the auto space,” Esparza said.
“I find that when I step back to look at our industry I enjoy the subtle nuances that aren’t readily visible to the everyday consumer,” he continued. “All the inner workings and behind-the-scenes work that goes into making the car business run. There are a lot of great people that do tremendous work.
“Besides, who doesn’t enjoy that feeling when they buy a car? Those in the industry help make that process possible,” Esparza went on to say.
Esparza closed by reiterating the significance of the relationships he has developed throughout his career.
“While there are too many to fully list out, individuals such as Frede Heidemann, Ron Keys and Eric Gerdes are a few that come to mind,” Esparza said. “Each of these individuals has provided support, encouragement, professional guidance, leadership among many other characteristics.
“These individuals also carry themselves in a manner that is indicative of how I wish to carry myself. They have set an example that I attempt to mirror and make my own,” Esparza went on to say.
