ORLANDO, Fla. –
After close to a year of development, ActivEngage recently rolled out a new mobile application that allows dealers to use their mobile devices to tap into advanced chat capabilities.
Essentially, dealers can use the mobile application to access chat functionality from virtually anywhere.
“We spent a great deal of time on the development of the live chat mobile app because we wanted to create an interface that is fast and easy to use, yet highly functional,” stated ActivEngage co-founder and president Ted Rubin.
“It is much more challenging and time intensive to develop new technology that is user friendly, and sometimes you have to change your whole line of thinking,” he added. “The technology behind the mobile app is highly complex, but the user interface is simple to learn and use.”
The app’s interface is designed to be “extremely fast” for Wi-Fi and 3G networks. The app is functional on the iPhone and Android, with Blackberry and iPad compatibility slated for July.
The company emphasized the functionality of one particular feature, Advance View. Through this, dealers can view what chatters are typing in real-time.

“This allows chat reps to respond quickly and intelligently, because they can begin to formulate replies before consumers submit their questions,” officials explained. “A menu of predetermined responses is also available, enabling fast communication with phrases and answers that are frequently used.”
Officials noted that visitor tracking data consists of geographic location, keywords for accessing the website, and pages viewed, among other features.
The tool also takes chat transcripts, contact information and vehicle details and transfers them to the store’s ILM or CRM, preventing the need for dealers to re-enter this information.
